If You Love Funky Shaped Cartier and Patek Philippe, This New Watch Is For You

Do you go deep on Gilbert Albert? Are you a Charlotte Perriand connoisseur? Do you have Roni Madhvani on speed dial?

Do you even have any idea what the hell I’m talking about? It doesn’t matter. What does matter is that one of the coolest watch releases of 2025 is here from one of the best young brands in the industry. What we have here is the sequel to one of the most unexpected and beloved releases of 2024, the Anoma A1.

The A1 is the debut product of Anoma, a British-based microbrand founded by Matteo Violet Vianello, a four-year veteran of the watch site A Collected Man. Inspired by a particular table designed by French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand in the 1950s, Vianello crafted a highly polished watch in a triangular case reminiscent of the best midcentury designs of Gilbert Albert for Patek Philippe—or, if you prefer, some of the beautiful, shaped Cartier designs of the 20th century. The sort of stuff that noted collector Roni Madhvani positively loves.

The A1 was an immediate hit and collectors gobbled up the first 100 numbered pieces to hit the market. And while that blue-dialed configuration is now gone, folks can currently get their hands on a fresh slate-dialed version. Within the mirror-polished triangular case—which is superbly reflective in the mode of a Brâncuși bronze—is a vertically-brushed dial engraved with contrasting triangles. Composed of three layers of black lacquer, it has a two-tone effect that plays with the light; a set of leaf hands and thin, painted indices are further indicative of its midcentury theme and inspiration. Inside, the automatic Sellita SW100 provides 38 hours of power reserve, while an 18mm grained Italian leather strap with a specially designed buckle finishes the package. The watch measures 39 mm by 38 mm but wears closer to 37 mm.
