Warning: The Bachelor Season 29 spoilers ahead. After months of ups and downs, Grant’s Bachelor finale is almost here. But in what could be the most shocking twist yet (cue Chris Harrison), fans are convinced that Grant is still single and has broken up with his winner before his season even finished airing.
Grant Ellis, a 31-year-old Day Trader from Newark, New Jersey from Newark, New Jersey, is the lead of The Bachelor Season 29. He was originally a contestant on The Bachelorette Season 21 with Jenn Tran, where he was sent home in Week 7. Grant was announced as the next Bachelor on Good Morning America in August 2024, which made him the second Black Bachelor and sixth Black lead in Bachelor Nation history.
In an interview with Bustle ahead of his Bachelor season’s premiere, Grant teased that the emotions that came with him dating multiple women throughout his season was a “theme” on Season 29, but not necessarily for his winner. “One theme of the season is that the women knew how great they were. Everybody in the house got along. Everyone was smart, witty, and beautiful. They knew dating multiple people wasn’t normal, and it would be a hard decision for me,” he said. “Reassurance comes with time, and you have to prove that to somebody through affection and showing them that you’re thinking about them. So I don’t think it’ll be an issue, but if it is, it will heal over time.”
Was Grant’s interview a hint for what was to come in his relationship? Read on for why Bachelor Nation fans are convinced that Grant is still single from The Bachelor Season 29 and was dumped by his winner after filming ended.
Is Grant still single from The Bachelor Season 29?

While fans won’t know whether Grant is still single until The Bachelor Season 29 finale airs on March 24, 2025, fans are convinced that his winner broke up with him after his somber appearance during “The Women Tell All” special. “Grant did NOT look happy,” a user wrote on Reddit after the episode. “I don’t know that I’d consider this a spoiler because I am not spoiled on the ending but I have to say, Grant did not look happy at the WTA when Jesse was talking about the ending of the season/Grant’s ‘journey”‘ Y’all think he has a good poker face or that his pick and him have already ended things?”
Another user wrote, “Omg, he looked miserable! Either he was purposefully trying to look miserable and I can’t imagine why or he really was. And he didn’t look healthy either, dark circles under the eyes, washed out. Makes me actually not want to watch how it turns out if it is really going to be heartbreaking.”
One more user commented, “I think Grant is not happy that they are editing it to make it look like he was more torn than he was. He was interviewed recently and he said it wasn’t like that. I think he was more worried about breaking the heart of the one he was not selecting.”

The third user may be correct. According to Reality Steve, Grant’s winner is Juliana Pasquarosa, a 28-year-old Client Service Associate from Newton, Massachusetts. His runner-up was Litia Garr, a 31-year-old Venture Capitalist from Star Valley, Wyoming. Per Reality Steve, Grant gave his final rose and proposed to Juliana at the Final Rose Ceremony in The Bachelor Season 29 finale and the two got engaged.
Fans became convinced that there was drama between Grant and Juliana after Grant gave an interview to Us Weekly in March 2025 that he knew who he wanted to pick as his winner by Hometown Dates, which went against how The Bachelor and host Jesse Palmer have been teasing his finale, with Jesse claiming during “The Women Tell All” that no lead has been as torn in a finale as Grant.
“I, honestly, was 100 percent sure because that’s what I came there for. I knew I was going to make things work,” Grant told Us Weekly. He also called out The Bachelor‘s editing in the promo for his finale, which made it seem like he didn’t make his decision for who he wanted to give his final rose to until the last minute. “[It] definitely wasn’t [down to] one hour,” he said, explaining that the moment of indecision seen in the trailer was due to “external factors” and not necessarily wavering feelings for his winner. “I’ve always been a really decisive person in terms of my career and everything in that field. … In high school, I was a star athlete and had to decide what college I went to, what major,” he said.
Grant’s interview came after Jesse told Us Weekly in January 2025 that Grant didn’t know who he wanted to choose as his winner until right before the Final Rose Ceremony took place. “It’s real,” Jesse said of his moment of indecision in the trailer. “And I don’t know if you could tell from watching that from my reaction, [but] I was surprised. That was something that I haven’t encountered yet as the host in the last four years on any of the franchises. Normally, I think, our leads have a little bit more clarity — a lot more clarity — heading into the final day. And I really think that’s how conflicted Grant really was.”
He continued, “They’re phenomenal every year for whoever our lead is [and] making that decision on the final day is always a very, very difficult decision, but I can appreciate some of why Grant was so conflicted. I’ll just say that. But absolutely without giving away too much, that was authentic and it’s real and it’s not an edit.”
Ever since Grant’s interview, fans have been convinced that Grant wanted to choose Litia, who is Mormon, but decided against it due to their differences in religion and culture. “It’s clear he really like Litia but the Mormon/religion thing is stopping him from going all in. We’ll see how it plays out,” a user wrote on Reddit. Fans also speculate that the narrative that Grant was so close to choosing Litia may have affected his current relationship with Juliana.
It’s not uncommon for Bachelor or Bachelorette winners to feel hurt after learning how close a lead’s decision was between them and someone else. In an interview with People in 2017, Lauren Bushnell, who won The Bachelor Season 20 with Ben Higgins, opened up about the “hurt” she felt watching the finale and seeing her now-ex-fiance Ben profess his love for his runner-up before Lauren and Ben’s engagement. “I don’t think I’ve ever talked about how hurtful that was,” Lauren said. “I always try to be really strong because I wanted to move forward from it. But because I wanted to move forward from it, I don’t think I ever really opened up about how hard that was just in terms of, like, I wanted to make that decision to get engaged one time in my life and I felt like I wasn’t told everything that had happened.”
Lauren also confessed that what happened in the finale continued to affect her and Ben’s relationship for months to come. The two later split in May 2017. “When The Bachelor aired, reliving that months later wasn’t ideal either,” she said. “I was still like, ‘We’re going to move forward from this,’ but then the press, that’s what everybody wanted to talk about. I’ve never shared with anyone, except for Ben, how hurtful that situation was and how hard it is to continually talk about it over and over again when you’re trying to start a life with someone.”
She continued, “Looking back, I wish I could be like, ‘That’s why it didn’t work out,’ but I think it was just a very abnormal situation and one that unfortunately. I mean we tried.”
The Bachelor streams on Hulu.
